sorry to break this too you, but looks like you've falled asleep.

If you were truly insomniac and therefore deprived, you'd be having a conversation on the messageboard with yourself

I am a big suffer of this my self - and i hate it
I have never been one of these people who can go to sleep when its bed time - or been up for xx hours
the only way i can go/get to sleep is by being totally exhausted – which as u can imaging is a nightmare.
I believe a lot of the problems are down to how active my brain is – ideas with GameOn alone can keep me up for days at a time why we site and discuss them.
Many nights I lay in bed for 2/3/4 hours just waiting to drop off – but it never happens – so I do feel for anyone who suffers from this as its can wreck your life in more ways than one

The true meaning of an insomniac is someone who remembers waking up - Most normal people wake at least 10 times a night, but dont remember it.

ul anyway

One of my m8s is a really bad sufferer, he found the Herbal Nytols did wonders for him though.

I too suffer from insomnia quite often i tried the nytol but doesnt work for me. The best way for me to sleep is to sleep on the sofa with the telly on I can fall asleep watching telly but if i have nothing to concentrate on i cant sleep. If i lie in bed my mind just goes into overdrive. As some peeps that know me know i have now slept on my sofa for well over 6 months because of this. But hey my problems arent exactly normal.

I actually saw my doctor about it in the hopes for some sleeping tablets. His advice was not to drink caffine, not to drink alcohol (alcohol induced sleep apparently is not the deep sleep u need just a very light sleep and u wake exhausted), not to sleep on a sofa :/ and not to have any distractions :/ (but its the only thing that works for me) and to try all sorts of herbal teas and crap. OH and my BIGGEST problem not to have any sleep during the day only sleep at night time. what would i do if i didnt have my afternoon kip :/

Anyways gl with it highlander and everyother sufferer it seems most of us know wot ur going through

ive had imsomnia for several years now but ive turned it into an advantage as i can do a full days work (17 hours long shift) get 3 hours sleep and do another one....ive even manged to survive on 6 minutes (yes 6 minutes!!!!) for the night.

insomnia ive found is generally bought about by depression or just alot of things on ones mind (be they good or bad).

Another good idea that i read in a book; is that you should put glow in the dark stars on the ceiling of your bed room. If you just laydown and watch them you will be suprised what happens, Insomnia is caused by stress and that the brain is to active to turn off if you like, but by watching the stars it takes your mind of everyday pressures like money, relationships and so on.

Also make your bedroom somewhere you want to sleep, if your bedroom is cold and colourless your subconsious is not going to let you sleep there, make sure its nice and cosy warm colours and put items in the room that carm you, don't have your computer whirring away in the background because you will concentrate on that and you will go over to it because their are things that you can and possibly will want to do. Have no distractions.

I could waffle on for ever about this, just let me know if you want any more info or tips i used to suffer from it but now i don't it can be overcome.

Few things for ya. I have tried most of em and they do work.

No caffine after 3pm. This is a guide if yo uwant to sleep from say 10pm (nornal person)

Again as Deepspirit said no drinkies in the evening :P

Beating one out can help

Watching crap TV. Believe it or not watching TV is the least calories buring activity known to man bar coma and being dead. It is true !! TV that requires little or no concentration will produce a trance like state. Snooker, Bowls and Cricket are fantastic for sleeping

No lights - Dark rooms are best

Warm Coco theo ld classic that never fails me

Smoking the "special cigerettes" but not one i recomend long term

Sleeping pills - pharmacutical ones are very good, herbal ones are not but still work. This is one to be careful off. I know plently of peeps who got addicted

See you doc - he might be able to heat

Download Cool Edit Pro - Goto the help and search for Brainwave synronisation. Its a meditation thing beliveve it or not. I used to this a lot and its great fun and you often fall dead asleep afterwards. The help will explain in detail.

Cant think of anymore at the moment. Hope you get your sleep pattern back soon.

I've suffered from insomnia ever since i did my GCSE's (Which were about 7 years ago) and i can tell u sometimes i lye there awake watching the hours float by and sctually get up to go to school/work without sleepingm

Like most ppl here my thought's on it are that u shouldn't concentrate on something, even the slightist noise (for me noise and light) can lead ur brain into a "Hyper-sencitive" state and b4 u know it ur hearing all sorts of things (Like the clock downstairs, the dripping tap in the sink or the cars on the road outside - or is that just me)

The only way i have really found a 'cure' for it is to just relax, think about something that soothes me and try to make myself smile with happy thoughts (Weird i know but it works). Be in a warm bedroom (or cool bedroom if it's hot outside) and be snug in the bed covers.

Also I have this thing where I get headaches with approaching thunderstorms, but when it actually breaks i'm so clear headed I can fall asleep (Even without being tired or just woken up - It runs in the family cos my sis is the same)

There is also the 'theory' over what u wear in bed, either boxers or shorts, n4k3d or the full works, nothing too straining or tight, unless that's how u like it.

Just try and be in the most comfortable place you can create for yourself (My 'house' as i call it is in fact my bedroom which has everything in it - homly)

1 thing i aint tried is sleeping (on a long term basis) with some1 (Same bed) cos apparently insomnia is higher with single ppl who sleep alone. Love to try it tho

Oh and Colio is right, a swift 1 does help but too much of a good thing can go bad Also like a lot of 'remedies' u can get dependant on it and b4 u know it u HAVE to do 'IT' every night
