I'm rather surprised TF2 isn't in there. Although web downloads don't count, the game itself is sold in shops. Me thinks due to the updates it should be sold more

Re: The all format UK sales chart (week ending 21st February)

Yeah sadly TF2 nor the Orange Box feature in any of the top 20 platform charts. However, as you mention, they could be selling like hot cakes on Steam and it wouldn't show on these charts

Left 4 Dead, incidentally, is currently number 25 in the all format charts, and has been doing relatively well (up to now) in retail sales

3000%.

Back to TF2. The update is meant to prolong players' interest, rather than bring in new ones.

Surely this just makes these charts useless for PC games? As quite a lot of people buy on steam now?

I agree 100% with Mole. They really should be implimenting these ideas within the leaderboards. They will be pleasantly surprised at the vast increase no doubt.

Looks like this is turning into the row about legal online downloads being part of the main music chart.

Re: The all format UK sales chart (week ending 21st February)

Problem is it's the UK sales chart, to include online downloads it would require all online distributers providing information where their customers are from (breaching the Data Protection Act).

Or in some cases (me personally), reduce all interest in the game. There is fun initially in seeing everyone go the same class to get achievements and the new weapons, but I felt it lost appeal soon thereafter.

I agree that it would be nice to have PC downloads as part of the all format charts, but for reasons Excess Neo stated above, that ain't gonna happen.

Re: The all format UK sales chart (week ending 21st February)

Music downloads are just as popular online as games downloads so surely they can alter the whole charts in the same way they did the music, even if it does mean throwing the laws aside (so to speak).

Yeah but the music industry relies a hell of a lot more on the Top 40 then the PC games industry does.
