Gold Rush!

The Team Fortress 2: Gold Rush Update is now available, free to owners of Team Fortress 2 via Steam. The Gold Rush Update introduces the new Gold Rush map and Payload gameplay style, the first set of unlockable weapons, and a new set of achievements for the Medic.

In other TF2 news, a worldwide Team Fortress 2 Free Weekend will begin Friday at noon PDT, and will include access to the new content released today in the TF2: Gold Rush Update. Using the functionality made available through Steam and Steamworks, all of the files needed to join the Free Weekend are available for pre-loading now.

The Free Weekend is open to players around the world, and there is no obligation to purchase to participate; all that is needed is a Steam account to join.

And that console command destroys the fun of playing to get achievements.

You could be marginally less ****ish and use
achievement_unlock TF_MEDIC_ACHIEVE_PROGRESS1
achievement_unlock TF_MEDIC_ACHIEVE_PROGRESS2
achievement_unlock TF_MEDIC_ACHIEVE_PROGRESS3
to get the new loadouts while leaving the achievements earnable.

If you feel guilty then roll them back with:
achievement_reset ACHIEVEMENT_NAME_HERE

I think I'll earn my achievements the hard way...

Nice to see they've bumped some of the requirments down a little, 8 buildings while ubering a demo man would be near impossible, 5 however should be doable on dustbowl last phase.

Also boo now they've lowered the Big Pharma requirment down to 20, I already managed that with Gazzie 2 lans ago...

Liking the new map so far, only bad thing is the fact that 2 of the Blu spawns are campable and have no door

I played gold rush last night and each time the team escorting the truck (blue?) won quite easily each time. Has a defending team ever won the map?

Yep, you just need to work out where the best chokepoints are and how to use demomen / engies effectivly.

Not that I was all that bothered last night as I spent my time playing medic, bonesawing everyone (and lots of healing ofc).

I won a couple of times playing as red, we delayed a few times as they came through but in the ned its been sgs at the end keeping them back from the final point

Dunno about gold rush but I've had no fun playing since the patch.

Too many faggot achievement hunters all playing medic, the new medic weapons are OK I guess, thats it.

Why valve decided to release 36 achievements for a single class at once is just beyond my comprehension.

I don't think I'll be playing for a couple of weeks.

Sigh.

I was forced to go away for a week, then my laptop is in for repair, so I miss the Medic achievements.

Medic being the only class I play. Typical!

Also just been told that 10,000,000 is no longer required, also annoying seeing how I put in an extra 10 hours to boost playtime up to 90 hours and get an extra million.

Ah well, seems that everyone will play Medic for a while, so I better stay off the server for a year or so until no one plays Medic again.

Any word on the next class to be updated?
