Smile Scariest movie?

Hey guys, just wondering what you lot think is the scariest movie you have ever seen?

Personally I like to watch Tartan Asia Extreme movies. The Eye, Audition etc..

Is there a particular brand of horror you like for example? Slasher, Torture porn, Psycological...

Re: Scariest movie?

Nothing really scares me these days although watching Alien as a kid perhaps wasn't the best of ideas.

Most films these days seem to have forgotten about being scary and just gone all out for gore like saw and hope that that people find it scary.

^^Pussy

House Of Wax really creeped me out for some reason and I don't quite know why. Might be worth checking that out if you haven't already, although it's worth noting that the acting is tosh.

The first Nightmare on Elm Street is scary as feck too.

Re: Scariest movie?

Fear comes from not seeing, building tension with music (or lack of). Cloverfield was interesting until it showed a big ******* monster.

Alien stayed scary throughout, purely because Ridley Scott is a photogenic genius and understands the above.

The myst - a big pile of poo.

The grudge, ****e.

Minus Alien, I can't think of anything that genuinely provoked such an emotion.

The Birds unnerved me, but little else has since then.

Re: Scariest movie?

Poltergeist. Period.

I still wont watch that frickin movie.

In fact I dont watch scary movies at all. I just dont like them.

I hate the stomach churning tension. Thrillers are ok, but movies that are either scary or gory I just dont watch.

Re: Scariest movie?

28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later I really didn't like... I fell asleep during each lol.

Poltergeist I haven't seen yet... I want to though.

I'm not an enormous fan of scary movies, certainly not while I'm by myself, but it's great to laugh at yourself when you're watching them with your mates!

My favorite horror movie ever is Silent Hill... it isn't as pant-browning terrifying as some but it had a really nicely driven story and some fantastic moments. And if anybody here isn't creeped out by a child dancing in the raining blood after somebodies had barbed wire shoved up their m1nge then you aren't human.

what scares me more is the people that come up with this sh*t and think it makes a great introduction into a movie.

It like legally experimenting with their own thoughts and fetishes.

Re: Scariest movie?

That wasn't the introduction, that was the climactic showdown

The first half hour of Silent Hill is just setting up the storyline... it works quite well, in fact after my first encounter with the series Silent Hill 2 put me off the franchise - the movie got me back into it.

It's true what you say though - there must be some messed up people writing this stuff.

Re: Scariest movie?

In that case I'm confused, but I'll nod and agree anyway.

*Nods and agrees*

Interesting to see nobody's mentioned The Shining yet... I didn't think it was scary but most people rave about it. Maybe it just hasn't aged well?

Yea, the shining isn't scary, it's just another example of how Jack sets himself as one of the greatest actors of all time.

Re: Scariest movie?

What do people think about Ju-on, not The Grudge, or the American crap remakes, but the original ones, Ju-on.

They were in my opinion, scary. Mainly because it's psychological, no in your face crap like so many other would be horrors.
