2014, the year of 4k!

http://hexus.net/tech/news/displays/...2840-monitors/

Getting cheaper every day and they are not even here yet!

For once we have something that GPU tech needs to catch up to, a 780 ti / 290x will struggle on that.

Want.

$799! That's cheaper than a current 30" Monitor from Dell (~$1000)

And Isn't the first commercial version of the Oculus Rift meant to be 4k or something almost as absurd too?

It's in development.

While not gaming, Netflix and Amazon are going to start producing and releasing their produced series in 4k.

It's definitely going to get interesting.

Speaking of which: http://www.polygon.com/2014/1/7/5284...and-mysterious

New prototype just unveiled. Looks like they have added something similar to TrackIR so it can track more.

Re: 2014, the year of 4k!

If its anything like the TrackIR you do not move all that much. Your movements are amplified to the point where you can look behind you with only a small amount of head turning.

Here is a video demonstrating it:

It's all meant to be used whilst in a chair at your PC so should be ok for wheelchairs.

Re: 2014, the year of 4k!

Yea hope so, tbh cant see many people wanting to run around there living room in a game of COD anyhow so the controller should still stay in some form.

Cant wait to play a F1 / Grid game with this, Will make for some unusual lans

Slightly OT, but I was working on Sunday as part of filming a Formula E car going down the Las Vegas strip and some guys fitted a 360deg camera to the car. It was only 1080p altogether, but they are hoping to get it up to 4K. However, the really cool thing about it was that not only did you get 360deg footage, they played it back on a tablet and as you spun round with it, the view changed as well! Can't remember the company's name, but they were demonstrating it at CES (looked like a webcam but with two lenses).

They are hoping to be able to give people a chance to view the race live like this; allowing you to pick a car and look around, which is cool. They also want to track the cars live and let you play the game as it happens, which is would also be cool. Then they want people to vote for there favorite driver during the race via Facebook/Twitter to give them more "boost", which I think is a load of bollocks!
