Re: Valentines cards for the Survivor in your life
I don't see why Valentine's Day is so popular. It's all about commercialisation, and the supposed feeling of love. Why need cards? Why have a special day? Also, it puts an extra damper on those who are single, seeing all these people going out of their way to be kind. I say going out of their way, because you can get a gift whenever you want. But VD society rather puts more pressure on one to get a present for that day.
The next Valentine's that I am not single, I will be doing my utmost to be completely indifferent and to not acknowledge any significance.

Hm, I dunno, I'm not buying a gift or card for my girl (partly 'cos it's expensive sending stuff to Florida!) but I am going to write and record a song for her.
Not that, y'know, I do any of that lovey stuff at all or anything. No sir.
Although it's worth noting v-day is special 'cos it marks one year since we first met.

Well, in that case that's fine, that's a perfectly valid excuse to celebrate. Not too sure about the singing part though

Re: Valentines cards for the Survivor in your life
Ha ha I'm under no illusions how bad my singing is! But she likes the poems and stuff I write (yeah, sentiment isn't always in flowers guys, shup ) and I've written one song before and yeah.... it'll be for her eyes only so it's all good

just make sure theres no comeback, ala dildoboy
theres several things about valentines that I dont like.
1. The commercial and sometimes personal pressure to "do something romantic"
What I find ironic is that "BEING TOLD TO DO SOMETHING ROMANTIC, ISNT ROMANTIC"
2. I don't let society dictate what I do. If I do something, its often because I feel its appropriate.
3. Single people - frankly can go f*ck themselves - To paraphrase Snoozer,
"On valentines day?
With no opposite sex?
Feel like a one-man band?
Then fear ye not!
My single friend!
You always have your hand!"
4. Despite, despite, despite the fact that you may perform romantic gestures 364 days of the year (365 on leap years), fail to impress on 14th Feb and your beloved feels like their world has been ripped from under them.
5. To people dating. When you take into account the cost of the meal, the hotel room, the swanky new get up, the funky condoms, sex toys and other such paraphenalia. Do yourself a favour, hire a prossie for a couple of hours and do without the "are you alright" stress
