The iphone 4 may turn out to be as good as android but the 3GS certainly isn't.
Oh well, it's her downgrade. I wouldn't swap my Hero for a 3GS though.

I'm a big supporter of Android, i also actually believe that 2.2 is going to be a big step forward and put it ahead of iOS 4 is many respects. There is a hell of allot to like. I also believe that in the next 2 years Android will be a far more robust platform, far exceeding Apple.

Unfortunately...

A platform is only as good as the applications it has..

Android has been seriously hampered by version fragmentation, this isn't just to say that jumps from 1.6 to 2.1 has caused the problem.. Even small revisions and updates for phones that have an overlay (Touch Flo for HTC) on the same version, for example.. When the HTC Desire came out you could not see secured applications on the marketplace, not until 4 weeks after launch. Then a new version came out, the entire process occured again.. This is because Google have to approve any updated versions, it's taking far to long..

Then you've got that fact that 2.1 currently does not allow applications on the SD card, so not only are you limited to the amount of applications you can store.. Developers are limited in the quality of apps they can put out, due to the size limitation. Which is quite apparently when looking at the Android marketplace... While 2.2 will fix this problem, you go back to the previous problem.. When will this happen? ... It took HTC 8/9 months to update the Hero from 1.6 to 2.1..

Then how long is it going to take developers to get the Android Marketplace upto a similar quality as the Apple App Store, 6/12 months? .. As creating all these high quality application takes time.

Yes - these problems will all be a distant memory in 1-2 years... But until then...

The iPhone 3GS 32GB ive bought is going to my wife, i'm personally going to buy an iPhone 4 once T-Mobile release pay as you go prices.
