IPS Monitor

Looking at buying a new monitor and IPS looks like the way to go for me. Personally, the much better image quality hugely outweighs the faster response times of TN panels.

Just wondering if anyone owns an IPS panel that looks and works really well?

Also, I'm thinking of going from 24' to 27', good idea? Bad idea? Any help would be awesome!

IPS = Visual Sex

I have this one

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/27-de...h-4-port-usb-3

1440p is really nice, good upgrade from 1200p, and its not high so high res that it requires multiple cards, I run pretty much most games and max detail on my 290x and get over 40fps average.

Probably cheaper screens out there now but I would recommend 1440p if you have the cash and the card.

Alternatively I also have a smaller 21.5@ IH-IPS 1080p screen which I use for lans which was about 130 iirc and thats pretty damn good as well.

So yea options at all price / spec points :)

Re: IPS Monitor

Well you've convinced me to go IPS, that's for sure! :P

I'm thinking of sticking with the standard 1080x1920 for the sake of my graphics card. But then upscaling to 27", you think that'd be too...different when it comes to text etc? Should be good for games, though.

Re: IPS Monitor

How do you mean upscalling? like getting a 1440p screen and running games at 1080p?
That will look gash tbh, better to run 1440p and turn the details down

Re: IPS Monitor

Going from 24" to 27"....

Why?

Do you have a new GFX card that can push a higher res that 1080P?

If not, why bother, a decent IPS 24" will likely give a better picture than a 27" at the same res.

If you have a GFX card that will push 2560 x 1440, then you are looking at the best part of 500 for a 27" monitor tbh....

Sorry for the delay. The reason I wanna go 27 is so I can use the monitor for my ps4 and pc. Means I don't have to trapse round a tv and monitor. Basically, I wanna use it as a bedroom tv as well.

If tou dont mind using converters there is this one thart has no HDMI input and is much cheaper.

You'd be wrong on that front. Yes, you do need a powerful GPU to manage to run high-end games at 1440p but you 27" 1440p displays are not 500. In fact nowadays you can get a 4k monitor at that price.

If you want 1440p IPS with HDMI connections or without take a look on ebay, yes ebay. There are Korean made 1440p monitors sold for around 200. There is a risk of course being from Korea (so warranty would be a problem unfortunately) but if you get one like a Catleap or Shimian it's well worth it, they use the same panels as Apple Thunderbolt displays.

Some have started appearing in UK from Overclockers and Amazon for around 300 with warranty so that's an option too.

Re: IPS Monitor

Well, thats me told..

Yeah, you go and buy a Korean monitor for a few quid, and see where you get when it goes wrong after 2 months.

Re: IPS Monitor

Also, why buy from Ebay when you can have this...
