Ok ok, now I may get a hammering here not knowing anything.

But what is Battle Star Galactica??

I have heard many people talking about it and always wondered what it was. Is it like Star Trek or something?

Pardon my lack of knowledge :)

Battlestar Galactica was nothing like Star Trek - not nearly so much of the simpering do-good cack that is Star Trek.

Basically it was a space-based series, with the last remnants of a deep space colony trying to find Earth. Constantly pursued by the Cylons, and getting into loads of space battles. The fighters were really cool and I wanted one as a kid.

It was a load of cheese to be honest, with Dirk Benedict (Face from the A-Team) as one of the hotshot pilots, but it was compulsive viewing in it's day.

yeah BSG was quality, used to love it...BUT...(/me slaps Raspy) it isn't a patch on Star Trek (next gen, or original series)

Think it was 77-78 ish. Friends mum took us to see it for his birthday. We were going to see silver dream racer starring David Essex, but it was too high a rating (thank god).
