Smach Z Smaches Records
You may recall back in 2015 we reported on the Smach Z, a diminutive portable console that acted as a Windows of Linux Steam Machine, allowing the playing of your PC games on the go. Although the first Kickstarter wasn't a success, the team didn't give up and their second attempt has broken records.
Overall, the project raised 474,530 euros ($501,125) supported by 1,293 backers, far exceeding the initial goal of 250,000 euros. In doing this, Smach Z becomes the Spanish Kickstarter project that has received the most funding ever, no mean feat for a campaign that took two attempts, but a testament to the old proverb about what to do if you don't succeed at first.
The anticipated model of Smach Z will support Windows 10, meaning that it will support a huge selection of games from day one. The creators claim that it’s powerful enough to run recent AAA games like DOOM or GTA V. It's upgradable, much like a desktop CPU and supports customisable controls. There's also a Linux option for those who prefer a more lightweight and customised version of the device.
Although the Kickstarter campaign has finished, an Indiegogo page has been open allowing to still pre-order SMACH Z and other accessories before the anticipated December 2017 launch date. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/smach-z-the-handheld-gaming-pc-games/x/15264125#
